From the soil to the scent – this is our story. What began as purely scientific curiosity led us to establish the cultivation of Iris in Bavaria. We are involved in every step – from plantlet to the raw material – and therefore we know each plant personally. Creating unique perfumes from this precious material was the natural next step.

When chemistry professor Werner Kunz lived in France, he learned about the precious Iris and its olfactory radiance. From this arose the idea, within the framework of a research project, to test the cultivation and processing of Iris in Bavaria – a painstaking pioneering effort over many years that has since borne fruit.

The Biologist

A biologist with a sense for aesthetic. As a generalist, he plays a key role in Iris cultivation and perfume development. Thinking outside the box and never shying away from any task – only those who know every step can truly love both the process and the product.

Iris rhizomes develop their fragrance only after a long period of aging. During this time, processes often occur that can negatively affect the scent, sometimes giving it a musty character. Thanks to our patented method, the Iris is dried quickly and gently, allowing it to mature without these undesirable effects. As a result, our raw material contains more fragrance compounds than usual and exudes a fresh, warm scent.

What appeared unachievable …
The slow growth of the Iris, its low yields, and the lack of experience in cultivation and processing make growing Iris a very difficult and lengthy endeavor. At the center of our research was the development of the necessary agricultural techniques and processing methods.

Through the insights gained in cultivation, we have established the specialty crop Iris and, with it, a pioneering value chain – everything under one roof, made possible by the inventive spirit of farmer Christian Danner and a remarkable team.
Iris perfumes of unparalleled potency
In our perfumes, Iris essences take center stage. At unusually high concentrations of between 2.5 – 4.1 % in the perfume oil, the different Iris varieties define the character of our creations.

Our perfumes
Iris is at the center
It is not a market analysis that determines our fragrance profile, but the raw material itself. The oils and extracts, made from the different types of Iris, are so different that each deserves its own scent. The characteristics of each Iris have been worked out precisely and combined with other exquisite ingredients in such a way that they form the heart of the respective perfume.
